About Andrew

Andrew Hammond has worked in schools for twenty-five years, as a Headteacher, Deputy Head Academic, Director of Studies, Housemaster, Head of English and class teacher, in both the independent and maintained sectors. He is currently Headmaster of Hall School Wimbledon. Andrew is a former Senior Director of Learning & Community at Discovery Education , where he is now Education Adviser and Series Editor for the Pathway programme.

A prolific author, Andrew has written over thirty titles for various educational publishers, including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Hodder Education, Harcourt, Sage, Galore Park, John Catt Ltd and Rising Stars.  He is a regular contributor to educational magazines, newspapers and blogs. Andrew is also an author of fiction; his latest work is a five-book horror fiction series for Headline, entitled CRYPT. Visit the CRYPT website here

Andrew was Lead Author of the Independent  Curriculum (Galore Park) and has served in the past as a 13+ Common Entrance Setter for ISEB and as an English Subject Leader for IAPS.

Andrew is a regular keynote speaker at conferences across the UK and abroad, and he frequently delivers CPD training in schools of all shapes and sizes.

He holds a BA (Hons) QTS from Bath and an MA in Creativity in Education from King’s College London. He is currently studying for a doctorate (Ed.D) at the University of Buckingham, in which he is focusing on hidden learning and the power of school culture to build attitudes, behaviours and skills for life-long learning.

Andrew Hammond lives in Suffolk with his wife, Andie, and their four children.
